1 Month CdPosted on February 12, 2010. '98 Ford Contour loses power when I accelerate. What's up? As stated, the 1998 Ford Contour. It does not happen every time, and it seems that if I accelerate gently, the problem does not occur, or at least does not happen too often. But occasionally, when I try to accelerate, a reader of my radio / CD off, the windshield wipers going, the two towers and tachometer go anywhere, and once again quite dead. Apart from that, the car works like a champ. If checks on alt, take a look at the ECM - the engine control module. It is not too expensive and sometimes they are simply bad contacts. Have you checked the alternator output? Should be about 14 volts are slighlty higher. A new battery hardly compensates for the loss of tension on the alternator, then while you are driving will recharge a bit. I want to make sure you have tested the alternator to not end up replacing the battery and after you break. I have a specific problem, almost impossible to diagnose, if you can find a technology to diagnose the problem I hear about it, Thank you, jnorris8@satx.rr.com sounds like a simple wiring problem if the cost is far more accustomed CommentsThere are no comments.Leave a Comment | Newest My Friends |
