Account Current Direct FirstPosted on March 6, 2010. First Direct is the only bank to charge £ 10 per month for a checking account? I get my part-time salary paid in the first direct intervention in recent years, and so far have been very satisfied with their service .... but he was horrified today to get a letter telling me that if I did not at least £ 1,500 per month to come on my current account and / or I have taken at least one other service with First Live, they start charging me £ 10 per month beginning in February 2007! The banks are already making huge profits, there is absolutely no reason why first direct must be paid to low-income workers and pensioners £ 120 per year to keep a bank account. The bank has to be greedy, there are many other banks that do charge such as Natwest, Halifax etc. Search around for the best deal. This was all the news this morning. They seemed to indicate that they could be "the first of many" to start charging for current accounts, as apparently the banks do not make enough money from current accounts (Oh pleeeease!). There are a number of banks that have "packaged" and the fee-bearing accounts. I have a current account with them and earn a lot less than £ 1,500 per month. Basically, I think they are saying that I'm not good enough to be one of their customers, not more. You know what to do .... Change your bank. Try the country, they do not charge you anything. You could not just open a savings account with them and deposit a nominal amount in it? Is this considered "other services" I wonder? Another con by the bank to make more money for their shareholders. everyone must change now if it does not become acceptable! If you have more than £ 1,500 to enter, you can afford more can someone with less. typical situation of making the rich richer by making the poor poorer! B ******* DS!
