Average Checking Account Balance

Posted on April 14, 2010.
Average Checking Account BalanceAverage account balance control?

Just curious to know what people keep in their bank accounts in general?? I heard the other day a huge amount of Americans live paycheck to paycheck.
I'm looking for adults, not teenagers.

I usually keep between $ 200 - 600 in mine. I'm antsy for that next pay if it drops below 200.

I am 24 years old, a teacher and newly married. I do have an advantage in that my husband and I went to college so we are already making the average house hold income, we also have no children, which is a huge advantage when it comes to save money.

We have various forms of savings as a result of my father who works in investments, so our checking account is mainly for expenditure. As someone else mentioned that stupid to keep a lot of money where it earns no interest.

I've never lived paycheck to paycheck.

= bank account accumulation.
I agree with chigga. Happy to have a salary, not man enough to come out. : P (sorry chigga)

Yes most of the poor live payday payday. It the
because many of them families with children.
It is best to keep as much as you can.The rule is
3 / 13.
A third of the bills, one third for rent, and the rest for food and survial. What you do not spend a postponement.
The more you have in your account acts as a coushin aginest an NSF check.
I sugguest you open a savings account.
If, on the grounds that it covers all NSF checks you write.

I usually keep between 100.00 and 300.00 from my account. I just paid my bills and pay cash for mine all the rest. Yes, we live in wage salary and I hate it! We did not hurt for anything so I guess I should be happy about it.

It makes no sense to keep more than a few thousand to see if your money could be made of interest to you. Just keep enough to deal with minor emergencies like car repairs and stuff like that. invest the rest.

I would not say that I live pay check, but I'm happy to get this check, lol.

It's different for everyone, because everyone is different. There is no real, meaningful "average" would be useful to know.

Some people like to keep their monthly bills total X 1.5 is a state of equilibrium (not fall below) the account balance. Just as the margin of safety design engineer.

A huge quantity not live a pay check, in all income strata, too. I was blown away when a mortgage lender closed its doors here in Tucson (First Magnus).
The media commentary on a large sample of former employees, senior and junior analysts, brokers and receptionists. The common denominator seems to be asking them how they would pay the bills next month. I bet some of them were 100,000 people in more than a year too. People live beyond their means today. My father used to say that young people want everything their parents had, and they all wanted before they are 35. Of course, their parents have been removed in their 60s and has acquired over the course of a lifetime.

The basic rule is that you must have 6 months income available for emergencies. Job loss, disability without pay, etc. So, calculate your net check weekly multiiply by 26. You can include savings, investments, etc. in this issue. You're right that many people live a pay check.

My husband and I are on one income with two children. We certainly live paycheck to paycheck. we probably have 1.00 in our account right now.

I am 26 years old, and I usually keep about 5,000 ... but I have not had a job in a year or so, so, it typically ranges from around 1,000-2,000 now: /

We should not keep their extra $ $ $ $ in the checkbook
(Little or% of pay).
This $ $ $ $ is @ ING or Citi Savings.
