Best Current Cd Rates

Do CD (certificate of deposit) rates vary widely between different banks and financial institutions? I plan to put money in a CD that become available when I graduate from school. The rate at the place I like to bank with 4.80% on a comparable 2.5 years, which seems good to me. How do I find the best price?

Try one of these savings on online banks, like ING, GMAC, HSBC. All have good rates and low minimum deposits.

My bank gives me 5% if I have $ 10,000! LOL.

Only a good rate if you think rates are declining again. As they are near historic lows, it is not likely. 6 months and 1 year rates are now more than 5 %.... You would do better with your rate if the overall rate has decreased. to find current rates go to the link below. different banks have different rates. Search online for the best.

Interest rates vary between different banks. Most traditional banks, banks with branches, did not rate very high because of the amount of overhead they have to maintain. Small banks can typically offer higher rates because they have fewer branches and less than all employees.

Netbank has excellent rates. Internet banks such as Netbank and Ebanks, can provide much higher rate than traditional banks because they do not have the same amount of overhead to pay. Netbank CD two years with a TRA 5.01%, but you might actually get a better rate over a period of six months or a CD a year. Both are 5.20%. Netbank and is a member of the FDIC, so you do not have to worry about losing your money.
