Buying a property in Ghana? I'm 21, live in Vienna, Austria, and my boyfriend is from Ghana. We spent last Christmas and I think the country is wonderful and it could be a good idea to invest. I study tourism industry and hotel management and I saw myself living in Ghana and running a small hotel there. I visited Cape Coast and I really liked the place. capital goods prices still low, 4000-6000 $ buy a parcel of Nice close to the beach and I wonder if I should invest my savings to buy a piece of land there. Has anyone done something like that and what would be your advice?
Look online to see what exists for information on Ghana and invest.
I pasted a link to Yahoo to invest in Ghana for you (for some reason I can not open any specific links that I found).
Hello,
I like the idea, but think you have a problem because you are not Ghanaian. You really want to have to seek help from your friend in Ghana. First, properties are not purchased, but leased long term (99 years), and the process is extremely painful.
When you are "leasing" the property, you generally need approval from the local chief and the traditional local council. If you get this approval (which naturally takes some, ahem, "Account"), you must have the property bounded, surveyed, registered with the Lands Department in the region or area you are in.
Cape Coast is a beautiful area, and the idea of a hotel or restaurant is wonderful. If you intend to pursue, it should be here to get the ball and capable of living here to oversee the whole process.
Good luck.
