Debit Card Machine

My parents have very little local business. I'm looking for information on configuring the terminal a debit card machine only for them to accept debit cards, not credit cards. I wonder if there are costs associated with the use of the machine? All fees for transactions? Did they have a certain type of account? Where can I get a machine and how can I create? Thank you!
