Does anyone know where I can find info on the laws governing collection agencies in the State of Oregon? My boss is planning to open another company (collections) because we have no right here in Bend. He asked me to research and I have only found dead ends. I would appreciate any leads! Thank you!
Oregon Collection Agency Laws

INTEREST RATE
Statutory + Judgement: 9% simple interest per year (unless the contract)

Sale of Goods: 6 (4 yrs UCC Transaction)

Judgement within 10 - Renewable at 10
Foreign Judgement: 10
LAWS NSF (civil penalty)
Can recover reasonable attorney fees and statutory damages of three times the amount of the NSF, $ 500 more if the demand letter is sent to debtor 30 days before the lawsuit.
INPUT GENERAL EXEMPTIONS
75% of disposable earnings or 40 x fed. min. hourly.
BOND & collection agency license
Bond: No
License: Registration only
Fee: establishment by the Director
Exemption from out of state collectors: the state authorities of contact. Out-of-state agencies may be exempt if [1] for collection outside the client's condition, [2] the debt was incurred by an Oregonian outside the state, and [3] the state where the collection agency is headquartered has a registration program comparable to Oregon law.
