Maestro Debit CardPosted on February 9, 2010. Can I use my debit card Maestro UK in the Republic of Ireland? I travel to the Republic of Ireland at the end of May I'm wanting to know if I can use my Maestro debit card once I'm there. According to the official website of the card: Maestro MasterCard International is the lead debit brand and offers over 540 million cardholders highly secure and convenient access to their current accounts and deposits with more than 100 countries around the world including the Republic of Ireland. Yes you can, Ijust returned Connemara and I mine it. Yes, I used mine last year. Yes. The Maestro system is linked to Ireland alone "laser" system. So wherever you see Laser (almost everywhere) announced, you can use your Maestro card. You should be able to use it anywhere - my exboyfriend UK has used its United States and it worked, even tho we have not written VISA Maestro we have on ours. It is the symbol just called diffrently worldwide. Most debit cards Switch / and credit cards are used throughout the world they just change names like all the rest of the world. It is a fairly easy and versatile world we live in now, but if you really want to be sure to call your card company should have a number on the back!
