Money Market Fund Comparison

Money Market Fund ComparisonWhat impact will the retirement of baby boomers have on the stock market?

Currently, baby boomers prepare to retire. Most earn their peak years or near their peak income levels. They are pumping more money than ever on the market for their pensions.

The proportion of people drawing money from the market to finance their retirement, compared with people putting money in the market to save for their retirement future is better than it will for at least the next three generations, without probably more.

Over the next five to fifteen years the ratio of people paying into the market to save for their retirement in relation to the population, taking off the market to pay for their retirement will change dramatically. The draw on the market will significantly increase over the savings rate to finance retirement. This will be a historic first for the stock market.

The award is a reflection of our economy. The award will always go up and down, but as he Alway it will continue to rise over time it will fall. There have always been and will always be first historical.

Investment baby boomers in the market is already very low so far. They have been in rotation on the market and fixed income investments as they approach retirement. As baby boomers spend that money will be inherited by a young generation who have more time to invest. Some of them will be spent and will largely be delivered in the stock market to start the cycle again. The markets are more likely to go up than down in the future, the money comes from fixed investments incme looking for places to invest. His bond markets that could take a hit.

In all probability (fingers crossed!), It will have little or no impact on the market ... it's you and me, and it is largely due to our expectations (tempered, I hope, a common sense response to the information available). We already know the baby boomers will retire, so that any impact should be already "in prices" ...

My personal expectation is that rather than having a negative impact, a tsunami of baby boomers retiring will drive the market (at least the Dow Jones) UP .... Most of them are smart enough to understand that they have not saved enough to live on income if they put their money into "safe" vehicles like bonds, if they decide to invest heavily in stocks. But most stocks will be considered too "dangerous", so they will loose money in 30 stocks that make up the Dow Jone Industrial Index. The Dow will increase. I guess 40,000 or so by 2025

(Check with me in 15 years, I'll buy you a beer if I'm waaay into the left field !)...

You have overlooked the effect of other countries. The companies listed on U.S. stock markets (NYSE, Nasdaq, etc.) do business around the world. China has four times the U.S. population. If they invest in the stock of companies that employ them, which will have an effect on prices of U.S. stocks.

Baby boomers are leading to retire now, my little brother did in August to 58 but most of us do not intend to draw on our investments soon. Some receive pensions or have a working spouse or work at another job with less stress that we do not need to spend down assets.
While we could take some of the younger generation and the young baby boomers are saving like crazy because they see how good it is to have money so they ca.
