One Year Savings Bonds

Posted on May 18, 2010.
One Year Savings BondsWhen do I cash in one year savings bonds 30?

I have several 30 years of savings bonds. Each brand has gone from 30yr. About 31 years. What these obligations continue to make money once they pass the 30yr mark or are they only worth the value on the link? Does it matter when they are shot? Where can I take these bonds to cash in?

30 year bonds "stop" to bear interest after 30 years. But they may be worth more than face value because of higher interest rates during their mandate. I have a 30 year $ 50 EE bond in 1994 that in 14 years increased from $ 25 to $ 45.24.

In addition to the site savingsbonds.gov mentioned, an assistant to calculate the value is www.savingsbondwizard.gov

The bonds were issued in the 70s when interest rates were higher. You should check the links for prices and what they are paying for.

If you take them to your bank, they can give you this information. They can also help you redeem them and reinvest the proceeds.

www.savingsbonds.gov has the answers.
